Good afternoon all, I’m Looking to install a Airmar B 175Hw 20° tilt in my 2005 283 release. I’m wondering the best location to do so. After a bunch of measurements and research I’m hopping to install it right in front of the starboard side factory transducer pocket. My only question is the hull too thick in that location. I have a few pictures of the location in mind. Sorry that they aren’t the best tight quarters in the bildge area. The roll of tape is an approximate idea of where it will come threw. Thank you !

In the first pic (tape) It appears to be a pick up about a ft forward of the transducer location (tape) But I dont see it int he other pics. That would only concern... Air bubbles might add some clutter to you on plane readings. I would come forward a bit. and no the hull shouldnt be very thick at all. Should be only glass.

Yes the first pic has the old B45 in the factory threw hull cavity. That will be behind the new Airmar I’m mounting about 8” on Center. To the right of the electrical tape if looking down in the bidge. It’s hard to see on the 2nd exterior photo it’s hidden by my hand. It just looks as tho the hull raises up “gets thicker” a bit where I would like to drill my hole, the Airmar is only 4.5” tall to the top of the threads. I’m worried about not having enough threads to catch the locknut on.

If its behind the new placement you should be fine. I was thinking the other way around. 4.5 inches should be plenty. The hull shouldnt be cored there.

Yes it is, I’m hoping I get lucky and have a few 283 guys chime in on where they drilled threw!

Just spoke with Grady. Was told the hull isn’t cored in this location, and it should only be roughly 3/4 inch thick all glass.

Install is complete B175 H-W. Wasn’t to bad just a little tight. Sealed with 4200 hope to try it out this weekend !
