1988 228 Seafarer. Wanting to run a forward bow light for general viewing purposes. Will mount to the bow rail, right above the anchor locker. Has anyone got any tips or practical experience running a power feed from the bow back to the helm for a switch?
My initial thought is to run along the bow rail to a vertical rail and follow it down to the hull. Drill in through the top of the hull, like the navigation lights. Really need info as to where the best spot might be to enter the hull and once in the hull, how did you access the wire for pulling/running back to the helm? Appreciate any ideas or information.

Is the light a search light?

my preference in wiring is to run it inside the hull. There are often tubes designed specifically for this. There might be one that exists for the navigation lights. Process involves fishing a snake through. If there is an anchor locker in the bow that would be a good place to start it.
Use duplex marine wire in a sheath for the run rather than 2 separate wires.

I’m curious about the need for this light. Most boaters frown on headlights as they blind every other boat out there.

Are you talking a rail mounted stainless steel search light ? If you are good you can run inside the tubing down into the anchor space. Search light has multiple wires to control movement.

IMO. Get a plugin or battery hand held searchlight and be done
