Instead of snakes on plane- ants on a boat

Hey Guys:
While I was over at Myrtle Beach area, my boat became infested with tiny ants as it was parked in a grass over flow parking lot. Then it rained like 4 inches Thursday night thus forcing ants to seek higher ground, and boy did they. So, I am thinking about using aint baits in the cabin, but does anybody else have an idea to kill ants on a boat? Thanks.

Clean the boat with Spray Nine. There is something in it that kills them on contact and keeps them away...and everything will smell fresh and clean.

Solution #2..

Terro. It's in a bottle and you put a little bit on a small square of cardboard. Place several squares of it with Terro in strategic spots in your cabin and on deck. The ants like it..they ingest it and take it back to their colony, eradicating them all. I had them in my 232 awhile back..worked like a charm.

The best thing to do is nothing.

As long as the ants don't have a food source, they will have to leave your boat and return to the ground. They can't "nest" in your boat unless you have a pile of garbage somewhere. So just clean up you boat and leave it be.

Ants are not a big problem in a trailered boat. Bats and blowfly larvae are a problem in a boat. Don't ask me how I know that.

Years ago I had ants take over a bass boat and got rid of them with those small ant traps and bug spray. All it takes is just a smidgeon of food to get em' going. Since that time have always sprayed insecticide around the trailer wheels and jack stand as insurance and never a problem again.

Thanks Guys for the ideas. We keep the boat pretty darn clean as it is why I am surprised to find them. I noticed in the campground I was staying in several folks used seven dust around their trailer jacks and wheels. that should have been a big warning sign to me (lol). In the summers we have been keeping the boat in the water at a covered slip so "ant season" here the boat has been pretty much isolated from ant infestations.

I left my electronics box open over a weekend in June and I came back next week to find a swallow nest under construction. No birds or eggs. I have encountered those before tryng to build nest on the boat over the years. Dont leave your cabin door open either.
