Hey Yall:
I have owned a Grady White in some form or another since 2002. We bought a used 192 then and recently traded it for a new 2008 leftover Seafarer 228 fully loaded with all the bells the whistles. I really like how the boat handles and have fished it off of east central Florida and now am in the Fla panhandle. Taking her offshore tomorrow and Monday, maybe Tuesday.

Quick notes....I surfed the web site and forums. read posts on wood rot and leaking windows. My new boat starboard side window was improperly sealed and the dealer fixed it. Other than some minor delivery issues, the boat is nice.

Wood rot, I found the debate that very interesting. My brother had a 1986 192 and ran her for over 10 years. A solid boat it was. My 192 was 1998 and we had not rot issues on the stern with that aluminum strip. I will take the solid ride and seaworthiness of the grady Sea V2 hull over a composite boat in similar size and class.

I will agree with what many said in reference to Grady legend and quality. it is a solid boat, but I agree if Grady commands top dollar, then they could do a better job on fit and finish. The leaks in the cabins could be checked better before delivery. Then again, the dealer network backed it up...so I guess no harm, no foul?

Anyway, I grew up in Florida, now live in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. My boat is a fish out of water on Lake Fontana (lol), but it is a great boat to be on the lake in bad weather.

Will monitor and post when appropriate.

Thanks and I enjoy reading the discussions.

Warmly,
Bob :D

Welcome to the forum, Bob. I really like the layout of the 228. Great luck and good fishing!
