Yesterday, my brother David and I took a couple rigged up jet skis about 32 miles offshore of Cape Hatteras North Carolina to an area called the "Rockpile". We departed Teaches Lair around 0600 to about 3-4 footers, so were only able to average about 25 mph going out. Trolling for Dolpin did not produce since the warmer water was still several miles offshore of us. We were jigging for some amberjacks when a boat next to us said they were nailing the trigger fish. They were great guys and even gave up some bottom rigs and squid. We all made several drifts and caught many nice Triggerfish. Later on the Amberjack action got red hot and everyone was jigging them up like crazy, It was a blast! A couple of boats lost some nice Jacks to sharks. My brother caught his first one jigging on the ski. Unfortunately later in the day my ski died, luckily my friends Beth and Kevin on the "Classic Rockfish" were close by and towed that ski back. I have towing insurance but I am glad I did not have to wait for them to come out. We all got back to the dock around 1800 hrs. I spent 12 hours on the ski and covered 87 miles for the day. The other ski did fifty before dying. My family and friends stayed in a beach rental house in Waves for the weekend. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

My neighbor Barclay Sheppard was out fishing the same day and saw my ski being towed in. He took a couple pictures and sent them to me tonight. They averaged about 20mph towing it back. I rode the other ski in, my brother rode with them in the the boat.
