I purchased journey 2010 in US in 2010 with twin yamahas and sea star SHC5358 hydraulics. Slow leak in either the port or starboard hydraulic seal glands if tilted up and engine resting in either port or starboard position. Anyone replace the entire gland or the "O" rings only. I am in Canada and nearest dealer is 2000 miles away Is this a common problem.
Sincerely Ross

I have a 2006 Journey twin 150s. When ever I leave the boat with the engines tilted up I make sure they are centered. If I do this they stay in that position. If they are turned too much in either direction while tilted up they will end up turned all the over to the side in the morning. I have been just keeping the motors centered when stored for a couple of years with no other issues. If or when more fluid bypass is noticed I will probably do a rebuild or replace the ram as well as the helm.

I just had both end caps replaced last week. I have owned the boat (2000 Sailfish) since new and this is the second time they have been replaced, about seven years apart. The seal kit cost about $150 USD and the labor was $200. I also had all the seals replaced in the helm box about 5 years ago. I don't know if you would consider this "normal", but I would say it is not unusual. I would imagine you could order the kit direct from Seastar or via the internet. Good luck.
