Purchased new to me 2000 Grady 180 Sportsman w/a 150HP Yamaha OX66 and thinking of adding a kicker for emergency and for some trolling for Salmon in Puget Sound and San Juan Islands. I want to keep the weight down and save some money so wondering if a 6hp kicker is enough for my intended purpose? A 9.9 seems way overkill for a 18' boat and I am not ever more than a few miles from safe harbor if need be. Any suggestions for Kicker HP and what bracket forum members like for their kicker on a 180 or similar boat? Thanks,

If I recall, you may want to do some searches on the kicker brackets, on here, I thought I remember seeing previous posts about them. I'm thinking about adding one on my 24'Offshore. I have shifted the location of my main and aux tank, and fixing to shift the location of my batteries; to hopefully offset the additional weight. I've got a 4-stroke Engine, but I also need to troll around 2.0mph in the winter for stripers, so I'm leaning towards the kicker. Keep us posted on your decision. Thx :hmm
