Kicker motor and fuel pump switch

I am installing a 9.8 hp Tohatsu with remote on a 20' Grady with 175HP Johnson. I connect the fuel line of the kicker to the extra fuel out with anti-flow back value on the water separator. Since there is no fuel pump switch, do I have to switch on the main motor in order to keep the fuel pump on when running the kicker. Any help will be much appreciated

I think you need to put a pump bulb between the kicker and the outlet on the fuel filter. The first time of use, you might have to bleed air out of the line. The fuel pump on the kicker should pick up the fuel from there.

Thanks for your help. I assume that the fuel will flow to the kicker motor form the suction of the motor.

Yes, in my experience. This was known as the poor-man's twins. If the main engine breaks down the kicker will get you back. I believe that Tohatsu is very light, a great choice for a kicker. Are you rigging the steering off the main engine?
