Would I cause any harm by putting a thick bead of 3M 5200 around the bracket to seal a leak?
I pulled the boat recently and bracket was full of water. Water was draining out where the edges meet the transom (pics shown). I realize the right way to fix is pull the bracket and reset, but I’m likely going to repower in 1-2 years with a single (currently twins). I’d like to try cheap and easy method first. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll go about the ‘right’ way to fix.
What unintended issue might I create by liberal use of 5200? My mechanic says it'll come off easily with heat and elbow grease. I undrestand I may find additional leaks, like under the swimstep or the inspection hatch. Any other concerns I should be worried about?
