The port (non-opening) window on my 258 is leaking. Would I use silicone to seal it or some other product and is it a PIA to remove and replace?

Window

On my non-opening windows I pulled the rubber "trim" out, removed whatever caulk I could, re-caulked with black 5200 and put the rubber trim back in.

On another window I went so far as to remove the glass and re-set it with a black windshield caulk. This was a PITA - time consuming getting the window out, messy putting it back in and difficult because they bend the glass to comform to the frame.

In the future I'm going with my first method. Worked just as well and much easier.

Boat Life makes a liquid sealant, never used it but see it on the shelf, may be easier to get in there and drip it in, than push in caulk. Try to clean the gap a bit when you pull back the rubber - with denatured alcohol to get a good bond.

If it is cool out, use a hair dryer to soften up the rubber - makes it more pliable - don't rip it.

I use other Boat Life products, Life Seal and Life Caulk.
