Can someone tell me how the outriggers factory installed on a Sailfish can be colapsed into themselves. I asusme they are telescoping. I am wondering because I just got the boat aand occasioally have to go under a bridge. Is there a way they can come down and lay on the stern to handle bridge clearance?

Legend,
Which type of outriggers do you have? Are they mounted to the top of the hardtop or on the cabin sides? Are they Lee jr's or a typical Lee's Single spreaders?

If they are the Jr`s mounted to the side of the cabin you unscrew the bolt w/the wire attached to it and they lay down. You should have a set of swing out holders to lay the tubes in when they`re down.

I know this is REALLY old, but you know everybody says "search first", right?

When I trailer (and when my boat goes on the storage rack at the boatel) I lay my outriggers down forward and bungee them to the rails and zip-tie the rigging so it doesn't bounce around. I was thinking of making a PVC tray to lay them in to end the metal to metal contact. I came here looking for ideas, when I spotted this statement above. Does anybody have a further description of these "swing out holders", or a picture or something? Is it for laying them forward as I have described? Is this something that should have came with the boat (I am 2nd owner)? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

To answer the predicted questions, I do not remove them because of a bad back, the fact that they are very difficult to disassemble due to years of corrosion (previous owner didn't use any product to prevent seizure) and all but 2 or 3 joints are locked up tight. They do not come out of the mounts easily and when you have a forklift waiting on you, and the forklift slip limit is 5 minutes... Someday they will be replaced with 18' telescoping outriggers, but I have been waiting on these ones to fail, but, they haven't failed...
