Livewell sloshes into drink cooler 268

Trying to decide how to fix this problem on my 268 islander. When it’s rough the livewell sloshes and fills the drink cooler with the plastic lid. It melts the ice and fills the cooler with saltwater. Anything to improve this?

There is supposed to be a sponge rubber gasket attached to the lid for the livewell. I replaced mine with this from McMaster Carr. This one has a 3M backing and is expensive but there are other options..

It does have one but obviously not working anymore

You need to latch the latch too!

I don’t think that is meant to be a cooler. I always put the frozen bait in there and used the fish box for anything cold on my 268.

A soft side Rtic cooler fits perfectly under the companion bench seat and keeps ice much better
