Hello,

I have a2003 Marlin with the flat acrylic panel hatch. The weatherstripping tends to let water in during a decent rain or washing the boat down.Have any of you guys solved this problem? Unfortunately,I'm not a huge fan of full enclosures so the hatch is exposed most of the time.
Thanks,Chris

you can buy the gasket foam tape from bomar or just use silicone. i would pull the hatch and reseal if you use the silicone, not just run a bead around it. ron

I had a Bomar on my Mako 25. The hatch leaked all the time. The culprit was a razor knife slice in the weatherseal prob caused by factory cutting off a roll & hitting the adjoining area. Replaced seal and problem solved. Took a long time to trace it down.

Guys,

Sorry for the misinformation,I should have been more specific! It is the entry way hatch from the deck to the cabin. There are two strips of closed cell weatherstripping between the two flat acrylic panels and this appears to be insufficient, unless the eisenglass is up.
I'm just wondering if anyone came up with a solution.Different weatherstripping or a new joint panel configuration ?

Thanks,Chris

I know this thread is a decade old but I don't see any solutions. I have the exact same issue. Any time there is a good rain I end up with a puddle ender the 2 acrylic panels that cover the cabin entrance. I was thinking of making a small cover or something to put over the acrylic panels when I didnt have the time to put on the full boat cover if there wasnt a type of weather stripping that could make a seal.

I installed the soft side of black velcro (had from HD on a large roll that I cut down on the width to match the hatch thickness) on both sides of the top folds where the two black panels hinge a few years ago and it has held up fine. I did this to keep out the am sun when we stay on the boat. It also keeps the water out. Maybe give this a try.

Just to be clear. I installed the softer fuzzy side on both pieces of the entryway hatch. The two pieces butt when closed and obviously don't stick together.
