Hi, I am very concerned with an issue I found on my boat the other day while boating to the transient dock as my mooring company calls it.
History: I polished this this boat from fore to aft this winter and found a few flaws from previous owners (to be expected as mine is a 1997) There were no major gel coat issues as I inspected in my yard. I was assigned a mooring that was not ready when we had already made arrangements to meet at a specific time. I was instructed to moor at a temporary mooring which I did. I said to the shuttle person I do not want anyone touching/moving my boat. (I have had issues in the past with yardmen who just could care less!) WELL, they moved my boat and I have a tension abrasion like I never saw before. Under the Port fore cleat it looks as if there was so much stress it literally left an impression in the gel coat and actually made a 1/2" cresent size mark. What concerns me is it went through the gel coat and it is now exposed. After surmising the damage I ask myself is how thick is the gel coat? This flaking is say 4 pieces of printer paper thick? Seems thin to me? I would think it would be thicker than that. Thanks. Peter
