Anyone out there have a Navy Blue hull, I thinks called Harbor Blue (painted) and have you been able to match it to fix scratches/nicks? I’ve reached out to Grady but was told they don’t paint hulls however I know that’s not the case. There was a Harbor Blue color for a series of boats. Thanks in advance!!

I thought that Grady temporarily stopped making hulls with gellcoat colors and painted them instead. Maybe I got that backwards. Regardless, if the color was used for several gel coated models and years, they might be a chance that Spectrum Colors has a patch kit that matches.

You said you contacted Grady and they told you they didn't paint hulls. Do you mean that you contacted a dealer? Those are two different things. Contact Grady directly to get a color code.

When GW rolled out colors, the first were painted, then the color gel coat was used as I recall. I think you'll have to see a dealer and determine the color to match. Prob have to do some blending.
I don't think I'd ever buy a colored hull after seeing the scratches, fade and color match issues on several manufacturers boats.

The painted hulls are more prone to scratches based on my observations. Gel coat not as much at least for blemishes caused but rubbing as opposed to a more gouging type of contact. I have seen painted hulls seriously marred by shrinkwrap and I seem to remember some manufacturer's recommendation to not extend shrinkwrap past the rub rail on painted hulls. The paint seems to have more fade issues also but newer paints may be more fade resistant.
I suspect that that Grady decided due to shortage of everything, to manufacture standard white hulls and then paint to meet market demand for colored hulls as opposed to manufacturing colored gel coated hulls.
I personally would not chose a painted hull on a new hull if I didn't have to.

Thanks for the inputs.. Yep, I would not choose blue again as much as I really like the color.. Grady has been great at getting back to me on various parts, etc. but this paint question for some reason they won't answer... They have a Harbor Blue they showed as a paint color before switching to all Gel coats.. I will try them one more time.. if not, I found something very close that I could have mixed.. Thanks again!

The current gel coat blue option is called Celestial Blue.
