Assuming it's a normal vacuflush, then to operate follow these steps:
1. Turn on electricity to the head AND the freshwater pump. The head vacuum pump should run for 10-20 seconds and then stop. If it keeps running then you have a vacuum seal problem (may be as simple as dirty flush ball or may need some valves replaced)
2. Do your business
3. Flush with the pedal. Contents should be sucked into the holding tank and you can also hold the pedal down longer to run more fresh water into the bowl
4. Release the pedal. A couple of inches of water should end up covering the flush ball, but you can also lift UP on the pedal with your foot to send more water into the bowl if necessary. (Might want to do that before step 2 esp if you are doing a #2 and there is no water in the bowl)
Hope that helps!
