Hello, great site. I've just purchased a 2000 Gulfstream with an 01 Yamaha 250 for 25K ( I think I did well with the price) Divorce sale, the boats been out of the water for two years and is in great condition with some minor problems. Survey of hull and motor was done with no issues (compresion between 105 and 110). Had a see trial and the motor purred like a kitten!Suppossed to have only about 400hrs. I plan on changing the water pump, all fuel and oil filters, and the batteries. Did I miss anything? Also need a horn and windshield wipers(can I buy from auto parts store or should I buy from Grady). Thanks again for any help. Happy to be aboard.

Great Deal on the 23'

You can find alot of boating stuff at car part places for example ( NAPA or Pep Boys ). Did you boat have bottom paint ? I would also change any Filers and Fluids. Good luck with yours. Mine was a 1999 23' 225 hp with 130 hours, $28,000......plus I had to buy a trailer (7,000 # EZ Loader roller and a Power winch ).

Have a certified Yamaha mechanic do a systems check of the engine. The 02 sensor is usually in need of cleaning or replacement.

Good luck with the boat.
Of course you will change plugs and drain, check and refill lower unit.
Horns are available at most marine supply stores and online.
You won't find the wipers at an auto store. You can find them at a truck parts store, online or at a Grady dealer.
Here is one website:

Congratulations on the new boat!

One other issue I’d be concerned with is the gas in the tanks, both the main and the auxiliary. Since you did a sea trial and everything went OK, the main is probably alright, but did you switch over to the aux during the sea trial? (something I didn’t think of) If whatever is in there has been sitting for two years you might want to have it pumped out and do not try and run it through the engine.

Good luck.
