I am totally new to boating and am hoping for some help. I was about to place an order for a Tournament 225 with an F250 engine. Would you recommend that I wait and get the new 250 V MAX SHO engine. I don't really know how they compare. What is the difference? The comparisons on the internet make a comparison to 2 stroke engines and I can't find an apples to apples comparison with the F250 which presumably the new VMax is replacing. Also, should one worry about getting a brand new model outboard from Yamaha that could have bugs in it like a new model car?

From what I have read about them is that the new motors are lighter, and more efficient than the older 4 strokes.
I believe they went from 3.3 liter displacement to a 4.2. Another benefit which is more of a personal preference is that when you shift the motor into gear they state that it doesnt clunk it shifts quietly. That is all basic information hope it helps a little. So if it doesnt hold back your plans too dramatically I dont see why you wouldnt wait for the new one. Also Yamaha's 4 strokes are known as the most reliable and I am sure if there were any bugs they have them ironed out already.
