I took my new 306 Bimini out of Masonboro Inlet in Wrightsville Beach, NC for the first time just before the weather blew in last weekend. I caught some small kings out by 23 mile rock. At least that's where I THINK I was. I'm new to fishing the north side of Cape Fear and am having to learn about new places to go while figuring out how the "Yellow Rose" behaves. (As the boat's name implies, I'm a transplanted Texan, but not obnoxious about it.) I quit early since the seas were building a bit and I was by myself. I don't plan on venturing out into the Atlantic solo very often, but I was itching to wet some lines and see how the boat fishes. I couldn't have been more pleased with the boat or the fishing. Even the skipper gets to fish on a boat like this! I had turned into the boat driver and fish finder on the 43' sportfish I recently sold to get into my Grady. The Rose handled the 3-5 ft. choppy seas coming back in quite well. Nice and dry. I think I've got a winner here. Just what I was looking for.

Congrats on the new ride and successful first outing. And welcome to North Cackalaky. :D

That's a nice boat. Do you not have a chartplotter and card?

Yep, -- but Navionics never heard of 23-mile rock, and I hadn't yet locked in the numbers. Still putting in waypoints as I go.

Good luck with the new boat. I've owned mine (306 Bimini) since 2002 and have done 50 + New Jersey canyon trips of 70-85 miles with the boat and I love it! Congrats...

OCD,
Do you keep your boat at Crockers Landing?
