To all in the New England region and particularly those north of Boston. There are reports of several submerged steel support cables around the new off-shore Northeast Gateway LNG Terminal. These cables are reported to be only 8" under water and run for approximately ¼ mile. The cables are reportedly marked at their ends by the equivalent of an off shore lobster buoy and nothing more. Reportedly several boats have hit the cables resulting in sever damage to the boats. For those going out to the NW corner of Stellwagon Bank from Swampscott, Marblehead, Salem, Beverly or Danvers the NE Gateway and its reported cable system are right smack in your path.
I am looking for official information as to the cable systems existance and exact location and other information on the issue in general from the CG but have not found anything of value up to this point.
Please note that I am cautious to use the term "reportedly" as I have no direct knowledge of the cables, only word from around the dock. If anyone knows the scoop with this or can direct me to the appropriate CG site please advise.
