I was just trying to get some good solid information on putting 4 strokes on my 1989 Marlin. I see alot of people with the Yamaha F225's on the back. My concern with 225's is are they powerful enough. I have twin 2003 Evinrude 250 FICHT's now. They are very thirsty motors and are only 60lbs per motor lighter than the Yamaha F250. If anyone has some good burn numbers on four strokes on the 28 Marlin I would appreciate it. Speeds, GPH with a full load, trolling burn, 4 blade vs 3 blade, etc. etc. Any kind of info would be great.
Thank You Very Much.

Just curious, are you looking to save money in fuel costs by repowering? if so, you may have to live a second life time to make up repowering costs unless gas doubles again.
Don't expect much on motor resale even so new.

Are you happy with 250 x 2 HP or will take less, same, or more ?

Do you want to stay with Yamaha, why not the F250? Or did you find F225s discounted?

The F250 is not the same motor as the F200/F225, yet same weight.

There are many more F225s on the water because it's birth came way before the F250. And the Fs may be obsoleted soon to the newer yamahas (SHO?) on market now.

the cost of the motors is not a concern. I know I'll never recoupe the money. The main thing is extending the range of the boat. I would prefer the f250. I just see alot of boats with the 225's and wondered if there was an issue with the 250's. Does yamaha make the SHO in a counter rotating motor?
