I'm buying a 2000 Gulfstream 232 with a single 250HP Yamaha. The boat comes with a bracket for an auxiliary get home outboard. Any suggestions as to power?

A 9.9 will get the job done - with the obvious limitation that it has compared to the size/weight of the boat. But check out the specs for the bracket and buy the biggest OB it (and your pocket book) will allow.

And get an extra long shaft so its stays planted in the waves.
