hi i have a 72 gw 212 naussau doing some restoring.can anyone tell me if there is a way to manualy tilt the drive?i am going to replace the tilt motor but i need to move the drive to move the boat . thanks any info would be great.
Sorry I don't know much of anything about OMCs. IIRC they had a screw mechanism that raised the back of the motor as the drive tilted up. Always sounded complex to me. Sorry I can't help. Maybe check around and see if you can find someone locally who has one and can help you out.
It's been 12 years since I've worked on one, but there is a clutch pack inside that somewhat square part of the intermediate housing where the pinion comes out. It was designed to give way and allow the drive to pop up if you hit anything while cruising.
I don't have my shop manual anymore, so you're at your own risk at taking that plate with the 4 screws in the corner to access the clutch.
Here's the exploded view. If you take apart the section on the lower left of the drawing (parts listed 21, 22, 23, 24, 7 and 8 ), the drive will move freely up and down. Make sure you've got it properly supported before doing any work
thanks for the advice i will try the clutch pack i have never worked on any thing like this before.ive been told there good drives we will see . thanks again mikeck
