Hey there spring is finally here and the fish are not far behind. Last year I could not get the lower unit off one of my motors so I took it to a marina. they had to do some welding around the top front to repair the damage that occured to get it off. Sunday when flushing it I noticed water coming out of the seam where the lower unit meets the motor. I the tech thinks this is fine but I thought it was a closed system. Is this okay???

Basically, no.
I am not sure if the seam you mention is the seam just below the engine lower cowling or the seam where the exhaust meets the LU. Regardless, you should not see water.
There are three sources of water , one is the water tube from the LU pump outlet to the power head. The other is the pilot tube water for the speedo but that won't leak unless the boat is in motion. There is a third possibility that the flush hose is disconnected internally. You can check for water with the cowling off to see if there is water leaking.
You may have to drop the LU and examine the water tube and its seals..

it is the seam when you put the lower unit back on the motor.Top of the lower unit. Thanks for the response. I shall take it off sat.

Thanks, I can see it spirting out of the seam on utube. It just did not seem right coming out of the area that was welded but they are peeing strong.
