I have noticed on the newer gradys the plastic is white where it is woodgrain on my voyager. There isn't a much of this on my Grady but I would like to know if anyone has painted the plastic woodgrain.
I know you can use penetrol to bring the woodgrain back but I think the white looks better and you can get paint formulated for plastic.
Just asking for other opinions or has anyone else done this.

I know what you mean fake teak doesn't do much for me and the if you look at the newer Gradys the clean look of the painted trim looks better to me.

Fake Wood

Pretty much given up on saving my wood's appearance. Is the formulation for plastic a marine paint? Does West sell something like this?

I think you should be able to use paint formulated for plastic from Home Depot or Lowes. It is for exterior and I don't think it could look any worse than simulated woodgrain plastic. It is in a spray can. It is advertised as to spray outside plastic furniture.

just to say i'm not kidding about pergo i put it in my house and put a piece in water for 2 months then left it out all winter you could'nt tell and it comes in so many patterns

I replaced my wood grain along the sides with the stuff they sell at Lowes & Home Depot for porches. It's like a white vinal that they use for Porches or decks. I removed the wood grain and used it as a pattern. It looks like what grady now is using. It was very reasonable to buy.

The new stuff is STARBOARD.
The color SEAFOAM matches grady off-white.

Can be cut and shaped with wood-working tools.

I need to do something with my bulkheads too. Would like a short trm fix like painting if it works.

An idea I tried was to cover the bulkhead with marine vinyl like is used for names. Bought white sheet stock from a sign maker and tried to install it. Could not get all the bubbles out and had a problem with a tear. Almost certainly an installer error. It would have looked good if I could have gotten it to lay out. Should have used a thicker stock.

Wasn't Scott at Vector LED working on a set of CNC starboard bulkheads for the 204c?
