After I scraped off the outer layers, a dull brown liver-colored stain remains in the gelcoat. I already tried Fiberglass Stain Remover and it just won't get out the last little bit. It's really ugly. Any suggestions short of buffing the gelcoat with an aggressive rubbing compound? It's prime fishing time and I really don't feel like making a project out of this right now. Any quick fixes for now? :?:

know what you mean, try bar keepers friend or Let it sit in the sun, I have seen some pretty tuff stains just disapear from sitting, bleaches itself out. But have found that a good coat of woodys wax helps the stuff from staining and washes away the dry crap with out scraping it.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the wax, but the stuff is already in the gelcoat.

When I bought my '00 265 in '03 it was a moored boat that was a seagull
hotspot! The only "quick fix' available right now is elbow grease-yours or someone else's ! If the boat is not a seagull hotel now just keep clean it regularly and just rain will fade the stains after a while. Then find a good detail guy/crew and cough up the $$$ for a good wash/cleaner wax/wax job.
Good luck!
