I've got a 2003 192 tournament w/ 200hp yamaha. Received the warning horn on a no wake speed, good stream from the engine. Thinking this good be the poppet valve. How big an issue is this to change and do you think I might be on the right path? Replaced water pump about 30hrs. ago.

Thanks,
GH Grady

That's the first thing to check/replace. It may just be stuck and you can easily remove it to inspect but you probably need to replace it. Make note of the order of the parts, it is not that difficult to install it incorrectly

I have R+R'ed the poppet valve 2x on my yamaha 1997 S150TXRV (2 stroke) no biggie at all. 2- 10mm bolts. Service manual has a different parts diagram than the new parts that you will receive. with the new parts the mushroom cap end goes in towards the engine and the spring goes on the cross part.

Very easy on an older 2 stroke, it's little burried on the 4 strokes but not bad.

use a small wrench on the bolts ,them little ones break off easy, and use anti seize on them when you put it back together. very easy job.

Replace old grommet. Clean hole with tapered battery terminal cleaning brush. CAREFULLY install new grommet without droping it inside engine. Best to remove connectors going into the ECU.

I still laugh when I see that. It may have just been me but it was suprisingly easy to let it pop out on the wrong side.
