Portable Generators

Does anyone use a portable generator to power your shore power when on a mooring. I have been looking at small Honda genrators and have not seen one with a shore power outlet. It appears they are just equiped with regular household outlets. Thanks

Get a 20 amp pig tail West Marine or other supplier.
It has a 3 prong 110v plug on one end and a shore power connection on the other.
I run a Honda 2000 and it handles a lot on eco switch. See reverse polarity thread for insight.

We use a Marinco 83A adapter. It has a locking 30A female that goes into the shore power inlet and a 15A straight-blade male. We use a heavy-duty extension cord from the outlet of the Honda EU2000 to the Marinco adapter.

The EU2000 easily runs our 6,500-BTU A/C unit, plus everything else except the hot water heater.

Generator

A friend checked out wisesales.com today and was quoted $869 delivered to Connecticut for the Honda EU2000i. I've got one and put it in the dingy while it is running. It makes it super quiet and I haven't had a problem. Its a great generator.
