Hi guys... new to the forum and considering my first Grady. Thanks for your input.
So I'm looking at a Grady Marlin 300... 2005, twin Yam F250s, 670 hours. Boat sits on a Performance aluminum 15000lb triple axle, discs on all axles.
Boat is in fair condition, from what I can see. It's overall appearance is mediocre, obviously not well maintained cosmetically. Gelcoat is dry and chalky, bottom paint needs to be sanded smooth and recoated or stripped. There was a fighting chair or rocket launcher installed into the non-skid cockpit floor and removed. The screw holes have been filled with a screw and white silicone. One of the engines has a chipped and bent skeg. Both engines tilt motors & cylinders have pretty good pitting/corrosion on them that has been heavily painted over. All the vinyl bolsters are shot, the Pompanette capt seat vinyl is marginal and the armrests are hammered. It has rust drips from many of the fasteners. The aluminum trim cover over the top of the transom is corroding. Several of the hatch trim/mounting flanges have cracks at the screw holes and many of the hatches are separated from their fiberglass mounting surfaces and need to be reseated or rebedded or resealed.
These are just the things that jumped out at me. Most are cosmetic. I didn't notice any soft spots in the decking anywhere, The accessible underdeck areas that I could see looked fairly tidy, but nasty. I did not check wiring, hoses, no sea trial today, nor did I hook up and test the trailer. I did not start the engines or test any electrical components, other than turning on the ignition to verify hours.
Full Navnet2 suite (open array) with simrad autopilot, Icom 502, wired for electric deep drop/swordfish reels. Panda diesel generator. AC, Lee side mount 18 ft spreader riggers.
The owner obviously fished it hard and put it away wet. It needs serious TLC and I'm hoping it is a diamond in the rough.
Assuming that everything else checks out acceptable, what would be the right price to pay for this boat.
