I have a 1996 Marlin that was repowered in 2003 with new Yamaha gages at the time. Both fuel gages quit working at the same time. One reads half, the other reads full. Any advise on repair. Thanks, Barry.

Go right to the sender unit and unplug the sender. Watch the gauge. Then ground it and watch the gauge. If it moves threw full and empty it is the sender. If not check the wiring for connection issues.

Fuel guages

If they both quit at the same time then I would say you lost a fuse or broke a common wire. I had guages that were all over the place and it was two bad sending units.

Here is a troubleshooting guide from GW.
Sender Troubleshooting Flowchart

If its a bad sending unit be sure to get one made by Wema http://www.wemausa.com/.

I replaced both of mine last year. The Wema ones use microswitches and have a thin tube shape with a magnetic donut over the stainless tube. Much better design. Be sure to match the hole pattern up old vs. new before you remove the old one and mark the "top" of the arc on the tank. Although the pattern looks symetrical it isn't and the holes won't line up properly.
