Hi all, I'm a long-time Great Grady lurker and a first time poster.
I have just purchased an '88 offshore with a single 2005 Yamaha F225 (4 stroke) on a bracket. The motor is currently propped with a 14 1/4 X 20 (pitch) stainless 3 blade. As is, it doesn't get the RPMs I would like. It tops out at about 5000, where as my local Yamaha dealers feel it should be getting closer to 6000 RPM. They have suggested a 17 pitch prop, but I wanted to see if there is anyone out there who has a similar rig and who can suggest a prop configuration that has worked for them.

Thanks much,

James,
I had a 1988 Offhsore with a transom mount 1988 225 Evinrude (2 stroke, carbed). Spun a 15 x 17 aluminum prop to 6000 pretty easily. I would think with a 225 four stroke 15x 17 stainless prop would be about perfect. If you have the additional fuel tank, hardtop, fish with four guys and run loaded often maybe you would do better with a 15 x 16 ss prop.

Hope this helps.
