Hi,

New member here. I picked up a 1987 Fisherman 20 that's pretty much stripped but overall in decent condition including a hardtop. No engine though. It's rated for up to 230hp. Any help on the right engine would be super appreciated (i.e. shaft length etc.). Thanks.

P.S. Any leads on a good engine set up would also be highly appreciated.

Not less than 200 hp, and you wouldn't be disappointed with a 225 ...

That boat would run fine with a 150 2 stroke and would probably sit better with a lighter motor (2 stroke). 175 would do fine also. A lot depends on how many folks you plan on taking with you. The 1987 GW catalog shows the fisherman 24 with a 200 HP Yami and the 204 with a smaller Merc. I feel that 225 is too much motor for that boat. Hull weight is about 2200 pounds.
The shaft length is 25 inches.

Find a late model 200 HPDI...there are still some out there.
Boat would be a rocket with that motor.
