Have located a 1991 Overnighter. Would that be a boat still having a fiberglass tank? Thanks in advance.

I've heard of plastic tanks being used in recent years, but never fiberglass. Only thing used for tanks in '91 was aluminum.

Dave,
It's aluminum.
If you're not getting any fuel smell, run 'er. If you have time and money to burn, replace it. Water in the fuel and bilge eventually corrodes them to the point of perforation. Pull an inspection plate regularly (every trip) and take a whif. No gas = no problem.

Others will say to pull the floor and replace it as preventative maintenance. If the bilge has been flushed regularly, or it's been used in fresh water, it could still be usable for years.

(Sorry, this is an old thread. Did a search on your posts.)

My first GW was an 86 Seafareer and it had an aluminum tank. I know the new owner and it is still theorignal tank today. good as new.

GW used aluminum back then.....they were either made by RDS or Florida Marine Tanks....

My '86 190 Tournament had an aluminum tank that lasted 17 years....I replaced it with an identical one from RDS....they still had the plans on file. Fit like a glove.

My 92 Dolphin has an Aluminum Tank - My 87 Gulfstream also had an Aluminum tank. I would be pretty sure its aluminum. A quick pop of the inspection port would confirm this.

Yes, it does have the aluminum tank but it does not have the SeaV 2 hull (changed in '92 I believe). I don't know your price point but I would strongly suggest the newer hull style.
