Just installed a new garmin 741xs gpsmap/sonar. Currently have a radar with the console in the electronics box up top on the hard top. Would like to install new radar on my Seafarer with hardtop. What is the best way to run the network cable to the electronics box behind the helm station? Would rather not have to buy new console and be able use the 741xs console.

Usually the installer brings the wire bundle thru the hard top and puts a fitting that accepts a ribbed wire chase into the hartop radio box on the starboard side. Then they snake them down the tubular hard top frame support (I actually think it is really there for this purpose) into the helm console.

Yep, I looked inside the top box and there is a tube that runs down and it looks like access behind the gauges. My Raymarine still works but it is from 2003. I plan on replacing the radar in the next year or so.

There is a rigging tube between the overhead electronic box and the helm station area. Between my audio system and VHF data cable to my GPS , there was not enough room in the tube to feed the Garmin data cable . It was not because of the cable it was because of the weather resistant ether net cable is so bulky it would fit down the tube. So I dressed it nicely with zip ties and such to go along the outside of the tube and drilled a hole big enough for the cable plug and then put a stainless clam shell over the hole and cable. The hole is on top half of the back side of the molded area behind the guages. I don't know what it is called . I dropped the cable down and it comes out where my GPS is mounted in the ebox.
