Finally. With all the activities with the kids, I'm a bit behind this year. Just having the dealer charge the batteries, splash and fill the fuel tanks. Should be in this week.....
- Hull machine cleaned with Collinite 920 and then 2 coats of wax on the hull. Looks great.
- Bottom sanded and painted. Did the thruster zinc. I'm finding the aluminum zincs that Sidepower uses only really last about a year. Others I'm doing every 2 years, but could prob get by with three.
- Top side machine cleaned and waxed. New wipers and rainx. Chart card update.
- Changed out the thru hole rod ends for the ac, gen, washdown and livewell . If you have an early/mid 2000s boat check the ends that connect to the thru hull handles via the aft inspection port. The factory used black steel not stainless and will break off after a number of years due to corrosion. I had one that was weak to the point of almost breaking. GW has SS ones now that most dealers stock.
- Changed out the arms on the Pompanette helm chair. One was frozen and the other didn't lock in place. Both arm tops pretty worn and had some dark spots that I couldn't get out. They look like new now.
- Cleaned the enclosure glass with 2 step Meguiars cleaner/polished and then finished with Plexus. The glass is pretty clear and flexible when you do this and take them down/store in a cool spot over the northern winters. Had to have several pieces re-sewn due to thread failure and the shop was impressed with the 10 year old plastic glass ( I didn't even do these ones yet). The shop said it is a pretty common occurrence for the thread to go on the GW enclosure pieces. Not sure if it is bad thread or something I cleaned with that is causing it. Better than replacing them though.....
- Cleaned the props, thru hulls, pulpit underside metal, bow rail, metal pipes and rod holders with Borasso and Noxon. I'm surprised how some folks thru holes turn green etc due to neglect. Easy to polish every year and get them looking good.
- Wiped hard top and pipes with Woody Wax.
Ready to splash.
