For use in the Tred Avon river/Chesapeake Bay

I have a 20' Grady White (205 Gulfstream) and am in need of a decent, not break the bank setup for GPS, depth and VHF - the boat has no electronics at the moment.

I read the various review sites and my head swims from all the info.

Any suggestions for any of the above?

Mike

if your looking to buy individual components, it will run you between 2000-4000 bucks depending in screen size and options. But I have seen a Garmin, I think, make an all in one GPS chartplotter, sonar and VHF radio which looked pretty decent. Don't know the exact price but it will be less than 2k.

Thanks - I am looking for under that - I am really going to use this boat to do some simple cruising and fishing with the kids, so a lot of the fancy things I dont need.

a decent VHF of any model like Raymarine or Standard Horizon can be had for $125....a good GPS Chart plotter for $600...but if you want sonar fishfinder you may need another $200....these will be 5 inch screens mind you...so $1000 and you're ready to go fishing. If you start going to 8 or 12 inch screens...forget it, 2-4 k can be reched easy.

You can find the entire Garmin 3206 bundle, with weather and FF, for around $1300 or so. Add $250 for a decent (ICOM or S/H) VHF and antenna and you are on the way....
