Pulled the boat out of storage this fall to repower and noticed the fluid was low/out. I tried removing the vent plug so I could fill/bleed, but it stripped out. I ended up drilling it out, but now no threads left, not sure if I can tap & get a new plug, and figured it'd just be best to replace the helm bc it's 24yrs old anyway. I hit eBay and found a NOS SeaStar 1.7 for a good price so bought it.

What I didn't realize until I went to swap everything over is the pump mounting is different, so my tilt column doesn't work. Further research shows I bought a HH6191 and mine is a HH5741. So now I'm torn. I have found other HH5741 for sale, but figure they're the older style, so is it "worth it"? May as well try tapping my plug and reseal the whole unit too if I'm keeping the same ole style. Which brings me to the HH6191. What tilt column fits that? Will my current wheel work? I'm also concerned whether it'll fit my console hole / mounting bolt pattern.

Advice / thoughts?
