My 1992 GW Seafarer has a Richie HF-73 Compass that lost all it's fluid. I'm repairing it with new fluid but the light stopped working. I have looked all over for a replacement, but can't find one. Does anyone know where I could get one or a similar one to use?

No, I don't. I've only ever sent the compass back to Ritchie and it comes back looking like new. It was a while ago that I did that - don't recall price. But I know there have been plenty of others that have done it, too. Call them and ask them before you go too far?

Ritchie doesn’t recommend self repair. It’s a loosing proposition. They sell a kit with diaphragm, fluid and seals. Sometimes it’s the UV exposed dome that leaks.

They fill at the factory in a vacuum to get the air out of fluid. They also vacuum and pressure test the repaired housing.

Call them and discuss. Have them repair it or just buy a new one.

This is some repair and maintenance info from Richie. There are lots of different models. If your model accepts fluid replacement, you can most definitely do it yourself. It's not brain surgery.

This outfit services Richie compasses and sells parts. This is a page for the light replacement. The lights have been LED for many years so make sure you try reversing the polarity if it doesn't light. The LED is very dim in daylight. Almost invisible.

I had one replaced by Ritchie in Pembroke, MA. Give them a call and see if they can repair it or recommend one that will fit in the hole you have. They were responsive when I contacted them in the past.
