Hi everyone!

Have a 1996 Tournament 192 and looking to replace the section of hose that drains the cooler behind the helm chair to the starboard waterline drain. It’s a pretty bendy route and looking at the hose there wondering if it was a premolded hose of if there is a rubber hose that will keep its shape with some tight bends? I see hose that has the spiral on the outside but like the idea of a stainless clamp on a rubber hose.

Thanks for your help!IMG_2706.jpeg

Thats a drain. its not below the waterline. But it is at the waterline so don't go cheap...
You can use several of the available hoses Series 141, 148, 135.

Have you looked at your deck drain hoses to your scuppers yet? If that cooler drain looks that bad, your scupper hoses must be scary.

Yeah, it's close enough that I wouldn't even think of using something else.

Ncuke... while you're at it, check out the condition of the thru-hull - especially if it's plastic.

Thanks - the deck drains directly through scuppers in the corners of the transom so no pipes to worry about there. This is the only drain pipe other than the one connected to the bulge pump. Thanks for the recommended numbers…

Good call - i did check the thru hull and looks like it was replaced rather recently and is in good shape, but why they didn’t replace the hose at the same time is a bit baffling. I’m more concerned about the connection to the cooler since it’s a bit of a reach through the pie hole and will be working blind.

Welcome to Boat Mechanics 101 :)

If the hole will allow (depending on the size of the cooler drain flange, you could slip the hose onto the fitting above decks, push the hose through, then do the clamp... with one hand and blind! Tip - tighten the band in an easy to access spot to where it's JUST loose enough to slide it into position. A shorty socket wrench works well.

Sometimes drains can be unscrewed from inside the cooler. Then you can just bend the hose towards you, pull off the hose barb, install new hose, line up in hole and screw inside cooler

Thanks for the tip!

Thanks skunk - fingers crossed this is the situation. Appreciate everyone’s responses!

Oh... Shields make a HD sanitation hose that is reinforced - it is white, smooth-walled, and much easier to deal with. While I'm not 100% sure if it's officially rated for below the waterline, it is easily as good as the black stuff. I've worked around this stuff for a couple decades and it is very, very good.

Thanks DennisG - looks like this is the same as the Series 148 mentioned above. I like this option!
