I have recently looked at a 2000 272 for sale and decided to download the owners manual for additional detail. I noticed that for the 2000 model year GW also made a 274, the only difference I can easily pick up on from the two owners manuals is the dry weight for the 272 is 5500 lbs vs 6700 lbs for the 274. Can anyone comment on what the difference is between these two models ? I also noted the 2001 282 Sailfish has the identical centerline length as the 272 and 274, i.e. 27' 4", and same dry weight as the 272 (5500 lbs.), but listed maximum HP of 450 for the 282, but 500 for the 272. With the same centerline length, and dry weight, why the difference in maximum HP ? Is there any real performance differences between the three models for the years noted above ? and which model would be more favorable to own, if any.

Thanks in advance for any feedback. :D

Go back to the Grady website ans look at the model year catalogs (not owners manuals), you will see what you are looking for -

Here is a direct link to the 2000 GW Catalog: http://www.gradywhite.com/customer/catalogs/PDFs/2000.pdf

The 272 was the outboard powered walk-around. The 5500# is w/o engines.

The 274 was a diesel-powered sterndrive walk-around. The 6750# is with the engine weight.

The HP ratings on the 268 and 272 were both increased from 450 in 1999 to 500 in 2000.
