Hi - I was just looking at the fiberglass transom cap on my 1994 Sailfish and noticed a gap running along the whole length of the bottom - what should that be sealed with? The top photo is upside down so that the gap that I am talking about is visible. The bottom photo is the same area but right-side up to help visualize where I am talking about. This boat is new-to-me and I can see from the different color gelcoat that the cap has been worked on.

I would pull the motors, grind that little raised lip off and glass it.

But how was that fiberglass transom cap designed to be held in originally? Is it just the four motor bolts that hold it in combined with some kind of sealant?
