Does anyone plug their rear scupper tubes on the deck when they are going out? Keeping the water from coming in when at anchor and there is a good amount of weight on the rear of the boat?

Maybe you need to replace the rubber flaps on the thru hulls. They should be doing the job.

Scupper plugs

I use pool fitting rubber plugs with a nylon wing nut to tighten the plug. This season I am trying to install a product by TH Marine that has a ping pong ball in it that stops water from entereing from the back of the transom. I find it very annoying to get water all over the aft end of the deck! I plan on plugging 2 scuppers and using these new TH Marine ball scuppers on the other 2. BTW, West Marine has the scupper with the ping pong ball.

I bought some tapered solid rubber plugs at the hardware store, drilled them length wise, and put an eyebolt through, then a washer and lock nut on the other end. Tied a piece of parachute cord to the eye bolt and made a loop in the end of it. When I have the kicker on, I push these into the back side of the scubbers. $3.00 solution.
