Hey guys, I’m looking to add 2 flush mount rod holders to my 04 Grady White Seafarer behind the back 2 seats. I know this is a popular place to add them so please feel free to post any pictures or give me any advice on installing them. I’m also wondering what brand rod holders people used as well as the length. It looks like I need them to be sub 9” to fit my seat cushions on underneath for when my mom joins me for a fishing trip lol. I’m thinking of mounting 90 degree rod holders. I would prefer 15 degree rod holders for trolling purposes but not sure if they fit. Let me know what you guys think or if you’ve done something similar. Thanks everyone!

While I don't have a 226 Seafarer and I don't have them behind the rear seats, I do have these Burnewiin brand downrigger mounts on my 228 Seafarer that I installed last year, which I love. They aren't cheap, but they look fantastic.

Another vote for Burnewiin, super clean and the rod holders are the best.

Just put 2 in the transom of my neighbors Carolina Classic. Looks to be about the same room you have. They were 15 deg and I think he could have gone more. Used a 2.25' hole saw and worked fine. Did drill a small pilot hole to put them exactly where wanted. Not sure of the brand but he got them on Amazon. If returnable order both 15 and 0 and return the ones you do not use. It was easy, but its always easy to drill holes in another guys boat!

Vote for Lee’s medium rod holders. I have the zero degree fixed in the corners for clearing lines/moving rods/mini outriggers and the zero degree swivel holders set toward the keel on the transom for bent butt rods (one runs to a roller troller like a flat line close in for ono/wahoo and the other runs far back on a center rigger)

Bought mine from BOE marine after searching around a bit; they had pretty good pricing and they’re back in stock pretty quickly if a particular model is sold out. The factory backing plates are good to distribute the load though fitment under the gunnel can be tight. Measure twice/drill once for sure.
