Would love to put a windlass on my 86 227 Seafarer......advice or thoughts?

I suggest you look at the Maxwell brand, high quality products.

Take a look at where you can place it and measure the "fall". Compare that to your chosen windlass manufacturer/model and it's specs. Are you planning on a vertical or horizontal windlass? How comfortable are you with the wiring? Look at the installation/wiring diagrams that you can download for your chosen model. Good is an excellent, very robust brand to check into. Lewmar makes a couple models that aren't too expensive - may not last as long as some others, but still decent units.

I use a Lewmar 700 on my 228, lots of people do. easy install if you have the pulpit. What's a 227? I've heard of the 226 and 228 Seafarer.

I'm new to Grady's but all my documentation is 1986 227 Seafarer.....just rechecked incase I was making a typo
