Seafarer floor storage.

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has converted the forward floor hatch to a storage area. I saw a boat for sale that had that listed as an option. Unfortunately no response when I inquired about it.
I have a seafarer 227 with NO auxiliary fuel tank. Was wondering if anyone has done this, and if so maybe some ideas on how to seal it ( as right now it’s siliconed) and maybe some pictures.

Very nice did you make a new cover out of aluminum because yours was bad? Trying to gain some extra space with out breaking the bank. I rarely slip my boat it is always trailered but still would like to stop the water from going in there.

Yeah....it was soft and I was moving panels around to make things work. I used the one cover for the doors over the storage area. We split it...took out the wood...put in coosa board and glass/epoxy. Very pleased with it.

Anything is possible! You'd have to create a gutter system. This is partway through my build (gutted it) of the entire cockpit floor. And this section used to be entirely open as the boat was originally a sterndrive. However, this shows a basic idea of how you can build a gutter. I had to completely fabricate a new hatch, but the underside stuff is basically the same. I used fiberglass L-channel around the inside perimeter to make the gutter, then plumbed the drain into the port side cockpit scupper drain hose. The L-channel is a little short (can only be so high because of the lid) so it doesn't catch all the water - but it does a decent job.
