I am looking to buy a new 228 Seafarer. Can it be purchased with a fish box flush with the deck? I have seen some older models with them.
Thanks!,

My 88 Seafarer didn't have the auxillary fuel tank, and I removed the water tank from the bilge and cut a hatch in the deck for access. I store my bumpers and bait tray down there. So while I'm sure you could put a fish box in the floor, I don't know if it would be a factory option. Only issue I'd see is runnig the plumbing- you'd probably need to add another thru-hull.

Nope. Grady purposefully designed all of the ice/fishboxes to drain directly overboard w/out the need for any sort of pumps.

204 is right. Every compartment outside the cabin on the Seafarer in designed to drain onto the deck or overboard. There is no below deck fishbox option. Why would you want one? There are three boxes below the seats you can use. Unless you are catching really big fish!

I like the set up with the fish boxes alot. Then again a below deck box is something I have not experienced, not sure what the pros are versus the cons on it. If you are buying a new 228, I would highly suggest if you can get it with that new 300, then do it! I think that extra 50 hp would be great on this boat in terms of hole shot and overall performance. I love my 228 sometimes I wish were a bit gigger though

I also have a 2003 Grady 228 and love the boat.
It is definitely butt heavy and the main gas tank should be glassed in as far forward as possible instead of where Grady normally puts it.. The aux gas tank could go behind it but I think if 90 gallons of fuel can't get you where you want to go then you need a bigger boat. Just my 2 cents....enjoy.
