Had my shore power plugged in and started smelling the plastic so quickly found this as a result. 30amp at the dock and plug to match. Going to disassemble the inlet and replace but wondering if this could have been a faulty inlet, power chord or something else. Thoughts?

Change he inlet power port and cover assembly. I would consider replacing the power cord. 30 amp cords are under $100.

Frequently the cord doesn't seal well or its not screwed down When you wash the boat it gets into the connector. Same with salt water wash down.

Looks like a connection issue between the male and female plugs. Maybe intermittent due to wear over the years and arcing. Best to replace both the plug and the cord.

It may have started with a bad shore power cord or it could have started with a bad (corroded) terminal on the hull receptacle. Regardless, both need to be changed.. I am curious what loads were on shore power in general and do you recall ever having dropped the cord into sea water?
