The sliding helm seat on my 96 Gulfstream will not stay locked in place. I've replaced the sliding mechanism and the spider mount using new Grady parts. While the seat is removed from the pedestal, the latch looks tight and everthing appears to be in order, but when mounted and someone sitting in the seat, it will slide all the way aft. Is there an adjustment that I have missed?

Doesn't a lever mesh into a gear track?
If you hav ethat style, make sure the spring loaded lever is not too tight so it engages in the track.

The lever definitely meshes into the gear track and the spring appears tight enough to keep it there, but as soon as someone sits in the seat, the lever pops out of the track and the seat slides back. I just don't see any available adjustment.

Look under seat while someone sits down, find out what the lever is doing.

If anything, it may skip a track but fall into next one.

I've tried looking while sitting in it myself, but can't see anything different other than it pops out and skips over all of the slots. Only way to stop it from sliding all the way back is to hold down the lever. It's as is the spring is too week, yet it appears strong with no weight on it. It's a new spring along with the other components. I will try looking at it with someone else sitting it. Maybe I'll learn something new.

I finally got it fixed. I took my old slider assembly and re installed it, using the spring from the new assembly. It's locks the seat fine now. I guess it was the spring all along, but I still haven't figured out why the new slider assembly doesn't work.
