I actually managed to get my nephew Christopher out of bed at 0400 hrs today to go to the Chesapeake Light Tower. We left my house in Poquoson Virginia at 0500 and departed Rudee Inlet by 0615. It was a gorgeous day with crystal clear skies and calm seas, making the 15 mile offshore trip a breeze on the ski. The visibility at the CLT was almost top to bottom, so I could see and pick the spades easily. Most of them we hanging at about 20 feet, and there were plenty of them. I saw several boats hooking up and as we we were getting ready to leave a couple of other divers were spearing some also. We managed to get our limit of nice spadefish and be back at the Inlet by 1030. Another great morning!
