I have my 2000 Gulfstream for sale. It has a Yamaha 250 engine. A prospective buyer is questioning it's "speed at cruise"; gallons per hour; and @ what rpms we ran it. Honestly...I've got the boat cause we split up. That was his department! Does anyone know how I should answer this guy? I think I remember it burning somthing like 9 gal/hour at a normal cruising speed.. Will appreciate any help. Thanks.

I contacted Grady White directly and received the perfomance specs on this boat with this engine within five minutes...great service!

Thanks for the help - I'd remove the post if I only knew how!

Be honest, tell him you don't know. Let him do the research.

thats kind of a subjective question...depends on a lot of things like how many people, how much gear excess weight etc.....its a 20 footer and will be one of the most economical boats out there....you don't need to be that critical on fuel use for something that small....a 36 with triple outboards.....thats a whole nother story

Richie, I think you have your model names confused. The Gulfstream is a BIG 23 footer with a 9-plus ft. beam. It's heavy and certainly NOT "one of the most economical boats out there." Many if not most Gulfstreams come powered with twins because of the size and weight.

Just wanted to put this out there for the benefit of the original poster to help avoid potential confusion.

Oops...sorry guys....I quickly saw the number 2000 and my gray matter went directly to 20 footer.....didn't pay attention.....my bad

Overall, most GW are "heavy" so to speak for their class, but realistically, if thats the size boat you're looking for, unless you buy a cheap thin hulled boat or a very expensive foam cored boat thats resin infused, the $$$ on gas can't be that significant in making your decision when you look at the whole equation. I've got a 25 sailfish and I don't know anybody at the marina bragging about how great their gas mileage is in a similar sized WC or Pursuit or HS.

Anyway, thanks for the correction!

That's right, use the published Grady numbers, and say where they came from. And don't adjust them.
Nothing more is expected from you (unless you are a professional salesperson).

You don't have to know how may miles per gallon your car or boat gets, to buy one, onw one, or sell one.
